IOT and Your Customer Strategy

The five things you should do today as a #CCO, #CustomerSuccess leader, or marketer on #IOT:

1. Put yourself in the middle of the IOT dialog and strategy. This is the perfect application of the partnership between the #CIO, #CDO or #CTO and the CCO/Customer Success and Customer Marketing.

2. Examine IOT projects and map to your #CustomerStrategy. You are by far best qualified to do that. Are the priorities right? Are customers engaged in the strategy? Will customers and their business objectives be the beneficiary of the strategy?

3. Examine your Customer Strategy and identify IOT opportunities. This is the inverse of No. 2, and it should be a principle driver of priorities. For example, how can you track and measure #CustomerValue realized by IOT deployment?

4. Focus especially on #CustomerAdoption for IOT opportunities. Systematically driving adoption is the single most important thing you can do to assure customer success, #retention, renewal and additional purchases.

5. Look to IOT as a major contributor and accelerator to your #DigitalStrategy, which seems like a no-brainer, but you'd be surprised by how disconnected this can be without a deliberate linkage.
