Our Hidden Brains

I'm a huge fan of podcasts. My sense of accomplishment every week has a lot to do with getting through my queue of podcasts and starting the next week with a clean slate—to be filled with even more interesting, informative, and entertaining content magically going directly into my brain.

Near the top of my long queue is a podcast called Hidden Brain. On this morning's walk I listed to its host, Shankar Vedantam, deliver a 7 minute commencement address.

Shankar addressed the human ability to overcome huge setbacks and disappointment. It turns out that we're all capable of change and growth. Part of why this resonated so much this morning is because I was listening while I came across a remarkable number of yard signs congratulating high school graduates, who won't likely be celebrated in any other way (or at least not in the traditional way).

I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
